Information Literacy

Midwifery

Marion is a midwife who would like to find out whether there is new information available on the latent phase of labour that could be incorporated into the Scottish Normal Labour and Birth training materials. [QUESTION]

She checks the library alerts which she's signed up for (eg. Midwifery, British Journal of Midwifery) and discovers a journal article on current evidence and recommendations for research in the topic. [SOURCE, FIND]

As the article is not available through the e-Library, Marion requests it from the Health Sciences Library. She reviews the article and adds it to the pool of training materials references.[EVALUATE, COMBINE]

Marion then forwards the article to an external writer who is updating the pre-course midwifery manual. [] This recent evidence will be incorporated into the training materials and used to promote ‘normality’ and reduce intervention during labour.[COMBINE, , APPLY]
